The South Johnson Camping Ground
 

South Johnson Camp Ground is an old Forestry Camp with excellent facilities. The entrance is off the Palmerston Highway to the South. It is easily reach by conventional vehicle along a formed road. Care must be taken after heavy weather as fallen trees and debris block roads. If the track is impassable, it will be gated at the entrance.

The campground has three picnic shelters and toilets on the banks of the pristine South Johnson River. Camping is free.

by 4WD requires a Permit.
